Oak Ridge Venue
Improvements
For 30 years
ORRA has strived to develope a premire rowing venue for the Southeast and Midwest United States. In a partnership with
the Tennessee Valley Authority, The City of Oak Ridge and area private coporations,
The Oak Ridge Rowing Association has spent $1 Million over the last 7 years
on course improvements. These upgrades are all part of the "Master
Plan" to provide a quality rowing venue. ORRA
hopes that the venue improvements and the centralized location make the Melton Lake Rowing Venue enjoyable by all that visit Oak Ridge,
Tennessee and that you consider this venue when looking
for a home for your regatta.

"Locals in Oak Ridge, Tenn. have turned thier course into one of the worlds's finest." ~ Rowing News (Aug 07)
The Oak
Ridge Rowing Association (ORRA) uses the Melton Hill Rowing Course to conduct
regattas for past 30 years. Melton Hill Lake is known as one of the best
rowing venues in the United States. Melton Hill Lake, which is fed by the
Clinch River, is part of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) waterway system
and TVA regulates flows during competitions to less than .06 meters per
second. The venue, which is protected by hills on each side, which limits
wind problems, also features a sheltered embayment with multiple docks for
easy launching during events. The 2000-meter rowing course provides 7 straight lanes
fully buoyed . The quality
of the course, a track record of quality events and a willingness on the
part of the community to support such events are prime reasons for staging
many prestigious regattas in Oak Ridge.
