The
Oak Ridge Rowing Association offers rowing instruction to
athletes of all ages and skill levels, from the recreational
athlete to high level competitive pursuits.
ADAPTIVE
- It is our goal to ensure that anyone who wants to try
the sport of rowing has the opportunity to do so, regardless
of any physical or mental challenges. The Oak Ridge Rowing
Association Adaptive Rowing Program includes springtime classes,
culminating in a Special Olympics rowing event for all participants.
We use a variety of specialized equipment to ensure additional
stability for the rowers while not preventing them from experiencing
the exhilaration of being on the water. If youíd like
more information or know someone who might want to participate,
contact the boathouse.
SUMMER
YOUTH CAMPS - If your son or daughter is not
yet in high school, but would like to try out rowing, we offer
a summer rowing camp for junior high school-aged participants
(rising 7th and 8th students). The camp is normally held in
June of each year.
COLLEGE
- Oak Ridge offers credited classes from local colleges
from Pellissippi CC, and Roane State CC. For More information
contact you registrars office.
JUNIORS
- Each fall and spring, the Association invites youth
in grades 8-12 to be participants and join the Association's
junior Program. This is a great opportunity to improve your
cardiovascular ability and develop teamwork skills. Many former
Oak Ridge rowers have gone on to participate in collegiate
rowing programs around the country. If your son or daughter
is interested in trying out a new sport, contact ORRA.
MASTERS
Oak Ridge offers three levels of rowing instruction for adults
(Masters 27 years and up).
LEARN
TO ROW - Our beginning classes teach you the fundamentals
of boat handling, water safety, and the basic rowing stroke.
You can then move to our intermediate program where you continue
to improve basic skills and technique as they pertain to the
sport. Our advanced level rowing program offer adults the
ability to prepare for masters level racing.
