Oak Ridge Rowing Association (ORRA) is pleased to announce that Shannon Moore has joined the organization as the Head Coach for Oak Ridge’s Atomic Rowing Programs. In this capacity, she will direct the developmental and competitive programs for Junior Novices, Men’s and Women’s Varsity, and Adult rowing programs.
Shannon Moore was a decorated rower for the Ohio State University, was a Member of the US Rowing National Team, and medaled in both the Women’s 4+ and 8+ in the USRowing National Championships during her amateur rowing career.
Shannon has 17 years of coaching experience, including international, collegiate and competitive club and high school programs. She has applied her formal education and practical experience in technical and physiological training, nutrition, and cardio fitness to produce gold medal-winning teams in the most prestigious events in the US and Canada.
Shannon returns to ORRA after guiding the Atomic Women’s Varsity team to a gold medal at the 2014 USRowing Southeast Regional Championships. She will again run the Women’s Varsity program in addition to her Head Coach responsibilities. “Shannon Moore is an overwhelmingly positive addition to the Atomic programs.”, said Russell Byrd, ORRA President. “She is the perfect complement to our existing and very talented staff, further raising the high expectations of the Atomic Rowing programs. We cannot express how delighted we are to have the opportunity to work with her.”
Shannon Moore has a Bachelors of Science degree from The Ohio State University in Human Ecology and a Masters of Science degree from Columbia University in Applied Physiology and Nutrition.
