It was a Saturday full of PR's as Atomic took to the ergs at the 2017 TN Indoor Championships. The Atomic men's varsity made a clean sweep, with David Dunn, Ryan Lee, and Jake Grice taking first second and third place in the Men's Youth III event, respectively. Kris Fisher also led the pack, placing first in the lightweight men's event, fifteen seconds ahead of second place. Other top finishes include Cliff Barron, David Seals, and Reese Gabrielsson who placed 3rd, 6th, and 7th in the Youth Men I event, respectively. The Atomic women also posted some fast times, with Allie Asbury placing 9th in the Youth Women III event, Allie Hull taking 5th in the Youth Women II, and Amber Bridinger and Madison Duran placing 6th and 10th in the Lightweight women's event. On the masters side of things, Jim Rogers placed 6th in the Veterans men, and Cathy Dowhos-O'Gorman, Debbie Wagner and Karen Bennett placed 5th, 8th and 9th in the Veterans women. Coach Kelly Kraiss even got in the action, earning herself a bronze medal in the Masters women event.
After weeks of preparation this winter and hours of erging on Saturday, Atomic Rowing left with second place in overall team points, beating out several other local crews from the area. We would like to congratulate all of our amazing athletes on this achievement. It is their hard work every day that makes weekends like this one possible!
