Bring a friend and learn to row for better health and great
fellowship. The Oak Ridge Rowing Association wants to introduce
you to the world of recreational rowing. This class is designed for people with no experience, but is also a good refresher for someone who has taken lessons and wants to get back into it. All That is needed just a willingness to learn an activity that can
be enjoyed a lifetime. Classes are offered for sweep and
sculling lessons. If you wish to become a competitive rower
this would be your first step.
Sessions are open to all
persons in the East Tennessee area, ages 18 and up. Oak Ridge Rowing is changing the Adult Learn-To-Row format based on the demand for rowing lessons. ORRA feels that it might have better retention of memebers if the class was more focused and did not drag over 4 weeks. Please read all information below regarding lessons.
ORRA will offer an Adult Learn-To-Row Immersion Weekends starting September 2007. Immersion weekends provide an overview of rowing in an intense, one-weekend session, with the goal to provide an introduction to sweep rowing. The 10+ hours of lessons include rowing on land-based rowing machines, viewing of video, and on the water instruction.
The class size is held to a maximum of 24 students and a minimum
of 4. After completing the lessons, participants will then have the option of joining the Oak Ridge Rowing Association and participating on a regular basis.
The schedule for each training sesson is Friday 6:00-8:00 PM, Saturday 9;00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1 PM to 4 PM and Sunday 1 PM to 4 PM. Lunch will be provided on Saturday.
