Melton Lake Rowing Venue

Melton Lake hosted its first regatta in 1978 when the University of Tennessee Rowing club held the Dogwood Regatta.  Later that same year The Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship was held on Melton Lake in Oak Ridge and we continue to be the home course for this regatta 30 years later.  Since then, Oak Ridge has continued to host regattas and is known to be one of the top rowing venues in the United States.  The venue has been the site for a number of major championships including the U.S. Club National, U.S. Master National, U.S. Scholastic National, NCAA Women’s Rowing National, and the Pan American Trials.  The U.S. Women’s Olympic Rowing Team and the Swiss National  team trained on Melton Lake prior to competing in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA.
