| To provide recreation and leisure education opportunities that enhance the students (boys/girls) abilities to cooperate and participate successfully during social interaction as well as to enhance the self image of each student (boy/girl). | ||

| Students (girls, or boys) will participate in activities in pairs, small or large groups as demonstrated by remaining on task, actively participating, following directions, and positive interaction with adult mentor support. Target for success is 75%, students (boys/girls) will meet 3 of the 4 objectives areas (objectives areas will be determined by planning in the classroom). | ||

| Suggested Plan of Action | ||
| Oak Ridge Rowing Association Adaptive/Special Olympic Rowing program will provide program opportunities that facilitates planning sessions and two summer program sessions and 12 weeks of rowing practices and a regatta in 2002. Each of the students (boys/girls) will participate in a Special Olympic Rowing Regatta if they qualify to participate in Special Olympic events in Tennessee. | ||
| Purpose/Goal | ||
| To develop cooperation and collaboration between Emory Valley Center, Oak Ridge High School CDC program. This program will reach unserved and underserved girls and boys in the Oak Ridge High and Middle Schools. | ||
| Objectives | ||
| - | To train volunteers to be mentors to facilitate said events after-school pre-event planning activities when necessary. | |
| - | To increase membership in unserved and underserved boys/girls in our area. | |
| - | To complete planning sessions with adult and boys/girls participation. | |
| - | To conduct two summer program events, (Special Olympic) 12 weeks of practices and a regatta in each targeted area. | |
| Time: April August | ||
| Participants: Emory Valley Center Adults, CDC Classes in Oak Ridge High School and Jefferson Middle School. | ||
| Monitoring: There will be on site volunteers and staff to work with each group of two are more boys/girls. The mentor program should facilitate four to eight girls and boys per group. | ||
